Can Nutritional Therapy help you?

We often put up with symptoms for years not knowing their cause, unable to find the root of the problem or an effective way to manage the discomfort.  These symptoms can get in the way of everyday life and work and provide a constant cause of stress.

Nutritional Therapy is an effective strategy to alleviate many of these symptoms. When we fully understand how nutrients impact the biochemical functions in our bodies we can see how vital good nutrition and lifestyle choices are.  Good nutrition influences the inner workings of all our cells, the health of our hormones, the efficiency of our enzymes and the function of all of our organs. When the body gives us signs, in the form of symptoms, it’s important to recognise these as a message that warrants investigation. Nutritional Therapy looks at these signs holistically and uses evidence-based medical research to uncover the underlying cause. With this information, we can formulate a manageable strategy to promote your health and bring the body into balance.

Meet Charlotte

I am a Registered Nutritional Therapist and a health retreat leader but I haven’t always been!  My former career was in the music industry managing events.  For many years I travelled the world burning the candle at both ends and experienced first-hand how a stressful job and unhealthy lifestyle can exacerbate underlying symptoms.

Throughout my 20s and 30s, I experienced an array of health challenges ranging from IBS to mental health issues, female hormone symptoms, and skin disturbances. Despite countless visits to the doctor, I was unable to resolve these issues long term and they deeply affected my quality of life.  Since then, as a woman in her 40s, I have spent much of the last decade managing the symptoms of perimenopause which are hugely varied ranging from the obvious weight gain and anxiety to the less obvious of increased allergies and reflux. I have managed these symptoms with food and lifestyle medicine choices using nutritional strategies, supplements and functional medicine testing.   Through my own experiences, I have proved the effectiveness of good nutrition and good lifestyle choices and what’s more, anyone can do it.

After studying at the Institute of Optimal Nutrition, in London, I set up my clinic in East London. I’m a member of the British Association of Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine and the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council and I regularly participate in additional training to keep up to date on the latest research.  Recently I’ve completed further training in  perimenopause and neural inflammation (that causes many seemingly unrelated symptoms) and continue to regularly attend webinars on gut and hormone health.

The science is there to back up many traditionally long-held beliefs about food, proving we can alleviate all sorts of chronic conditions and symptoms. If you would like to know how Nutritional Therapy can help you, get in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn How it Works!

What happens during the consultation?
In the initial consultation, I take an extensive account of your symptoms and your previous medical history. I use this information to build a map of body functions. This map serves to direct the nutritional programme and to try to establish the root cause or causes of the problems you are experiencing. We agree on the best and most manageable nutrition and lifestyle strategy for you taking into account your lifestyle and home life. This is very much a collaborative process. Every step is agreed upon by you.
Will I have to stop eating all my favourite foods?
It depends!! If certain foods are limiting your progress or exacerbating your symptoms then we will discuss reducing and possibly eliminating these during the consultation. All decisions are collaborative. It’s always your choice.
How many consultations will I need?
This largely depends on what is bothering you. However, most people have seen improvements after 3 sessions. If issues are complex and long term, more consultations may be beneficial.
Will I need tests?

Sometimes tests are helpful and I use the best functional testing laboratories in the country. We will weigh up the cost versus benefit in any given situation. We will discuss this in the consultation and reach a decision together.

I'm not the best cook, does it matter?
No, this doesn’t matter. Foods can be prepared or assembled easily and we will look at ways to make this easier together. I will make sure you have enough information to prepare your meals easily and in a time-sensitive manner.
Will I need supplements?

Supplements can perform specific functions and provide extra support giving us an extra boost when we need them.

Does Nutritional Therapy help?
Yes! All our work is scientific and evidence-based. That means we use the latest research papers and studies to devise your nutritional programme. Everything we recommend has been thoroughly checked against your individual history. I can keep in regular contact with your doctor or therapist.
